Slow, but Steady

Blog Blog Blog. I totally forgot I had to blog today. Not really feeling it today.

Anyways, Thanks to James I am now fully submerged into Conquer again. James and I pulled a long night last night reviving the game and getting my mind back into the Conquer mindset. I'm making progress on it. I worked on it today for a good hour or two. The only good thing about not having a job right now is having all this spare time to work on it. It is my mid-summer project. I hope to complete my latest set of goals/changes on the game and have it ready for testing trials in a week or two. Probably some time after the 4th of July. We'll see. My pace on Conquer over the past 6 years has been about as fast as Starcraft II's completion.

I went to the lake the other day. I hadn't been to the lake in a good long time. All I did was sit and eat Albertacos with work friends, but it still counts.

Some old Offspring concert photos:

The power of the earplug is so immense it glows.

Maybe yes

Well here we are agin. Nothing like a Monday late night night blog-perience.
Work has been steady and nice.

maybe in some of my free time I can work on a script for a movie that could be made at the lowest level of production.
but it would be sci-fi. i love me some sci-fi. I have one really good idea but i would need an old russian or german guy. well not super old just 50ish.

alright people. I could find you pictures. I could find you videos. Instead I leave you with nothing........but this!

One Sunday

I have not done a Sunday post in a very long time. The only reason I am posting today is because I have a video to post. It has been a very lazy day for me and I was doing a little cleaning. I found a half full can of silly string and well...you know how my mind works so...yeah.

June 27

My parents are off to Yosemite, so the house is mine until Tuesday. I feel like I'm not taking full advantage of the situation, but I'm just so unprepared for this much freedom! I should do something. That much I am certain of.

I haven't been drawing which is bad. I don't have any excuses.

I just realized I own a blacklight. It was passed down to me by my sister, and I've never used it. Maybe I should do something that involves a blacklight. Hmm. This is possible.

El Nino is coming! Hell Yeahhs boyz. Betta get yo galoshes ready.

I vividly remember the last El Nino. Watching Pokemon in the rain.

Those were good times.

Before my Visual Storytelling teacher left halfway through the semester, he read to us a couple of his favorite poems. I personally liked this one the best, and I think it's worthy of sharing on the blog

http://sps.nus.edu.sg/~lohtsely/Poem.html

Especially the last two stanzas. I wish I was that talented of a writer. It would be a worthy goal.

Summer of the Beach

I've been doing good on my goal for this summer which constitutes going to the beach a lot. I went to Huntington beach on Wednesday and I went to Rivera today. The beach is just the perfect summer getaway. The water was surprisingly tolerable today. It was nice but then after 20 mins or so my arms and chest get really cold and I have to get out. The other bad thing about going in the water is it washes off all your sunscreen. I re-applied only once and that turned out to be a big mistake. My legs and nose got sunburn a good amount. Melanoma here I come! I am also excited that my pool is finally up to speed and is ready for action. I've been looking forward to swimming in it for quite a while. Summers of the past I only used my pool a couple times over the summer. Which is sad since my pool was always so nice. This summer I have changed and I plan on using it a lot. I have it so I might as well use it while it is open.

As seen on Facebook:

Beach castles are awesome.

Another Yosemite me pic:

Ready for Half Dome

I've got the Linkin Park Transformers 2 song stuck in my head. I heard them play it at least 3 different times during the movie.

Seen things

Another day. I wake I work I wonder.
Actually last night I went to see TRANSFORMERS IMAX 10:20. We were FIRST IN LINE! And boy did we dominate that line.
And it looks like it will be another busy weekend.
As for Transformers....let me give you a review:
Awesome Robot destruction!!!! + Amazing CGI + a weak weak plot.....i.e. matrix of leadership....+ Funny/fun humans= TF:RotF
And that is what I call a movie review.
Also I am happy that Away We Go is coming to my theatres tomorrow. I think I'll be seeing it As soon as possible!!

Anyways...thats all thats been going on movies wise. I did hear that Michael Jackson died today. Which is sad. its sad when people die. Plain and simple.

And then theres the whole thing with North Korea going on. Will Kim Jong Ill just DIE ALREADY!!! seriously!

*_-

On a Yosemite note....my flip cameras are being mean to me. I tried to download all videos to the computer but they would not allow it! so now i have to find the ones that didnt make it on and get them! then we can start editing!!!
its on my list of things to do. eventually.

ok ok. b log out.

June 24th, 2009

I recently watched The Hunchback of Notredame (kiddie Disney version) and it's re-made quite an impression. It's funny- the animated movies I didn't like so much as a child I now find much more intriguing. For instance the main villain

is so wonderfully evil. And not weird dark magic evil, but human evil. It's very enticing.

Speaking of enticing

my my.

That isn't to say the movie doesn't have it's faults. I didn't really like the captain, I didn't like how the Hunchback doesn't die or have some sort of resolution other than his woman getting jacked, and voices were mehhh.

But that's just me.

Speaking of me:

I went to visit Hearst Castle. It's gorgeous, you should go. Also, (I don't think I've mentioned this on the blog yet) but I am 19 now. Which meanss...nothing. But then 20! and then 21! and then it's all downhill.

I don't have a positive position on getting old(er.) I've spent so much time picturing myself as a High School student that even being a college student is a stretch. The thought of being an adult seems so unappealing.

Maybe that will change as I become an adult. I'm such a hypocrite, it's disgusting.

Skinny on the outside, Fat on the inside

I feel like I am always blogging. I'm running out of things to talk about too. Not much has changed since the last blog. I guess I have done some things since then, but I am not at liberty to disclose them on the blog. It was father's day on Sunday. I hope all the fathers out there were happy and appreciated. My fathers day was spent by taking long drives to meet and greet relatives and eating more than my stomach could handle. It was a day of binge eating. My dad wanted a big breakfast "brunch" for his father's day so my sister and mom made a nice large variety of foods. Things I ate during this brunch:
- Loaded Omelet
- 4 Links of sausage
- 1 waffle with ice cream on top (weird I know)
- Apple cider
- 1 and 1/2 Royal Donuts
After eating all this my stomach was aching with pain. 4 hours had past and I found myself sitting at Ruby's Diner by the pier in Redondo beach. I had a full-on cheeseburger with "refillable" fries and a Ruby's classic large shake. By the time I finished my meal I felt like I was going to throw-up. I was so full the rest of the day I never got the urge for dinner and skipped it happily. So much eating, so much driving, so much relatives, so much father's day.

I went to the gym today finally. I haven't been to the gym in about a month since I got out of school. Luckily I did not lose too much muscle mass and was able to lift the weight I was lifting a month ago. When I worked out at school I always used to weigh myself every time I worked out. It was always anywhere from 140 to 145, 142 being the usual. Well the week before finals I weighed myself at home and the scale said 133. This was a huge shock. I assumed my scale at home was broken because it is very old. Today I weighed myself at the Sierra gym in mission viejo and it said 137. So now I know my scale is actually correct at home. I have no idea how I lost so much weight. I have been eating a lot more since I have gotten out of school. The more I eat the more weight I lose. My body is a piece of work.

Ok I hope I haven't bored you to death with all my latest Petty life stories. It was all I could think of right now.

Live Long and Prosper.

Fundamental Wow

If you hadn't noticed....I've been busy.
So lets break it down for you.
I'm working hard. Hard at work. I guess it's a good thing that during a "recession," going to the movies is a popular form of entertainment. Can't take the kids to a theme park? So lets go to the movies! Lets go see the show. (if anyone can tell me what Musical those last two lines are from they will get 1 popculture point)
Since I've bee back from the big HalfRock mountain i've seen only two movies!
1. Brothers Bloom
2. The Hangover.
Brothers Bloom was great. I'm always a sucker for the quirks and the charm. I wish we had it longer than 1 week.
and then there's the Hangover. At first I was overconfident that this would be a movie that was "funny and raunchy" but aside from that not much more. I was wrong. Its funny how a good indicator of a movie is how long it sticks with you much after you've exited theatre 16. For example, last night provided for an opportunity of comical reminiscence. So if you haven't seen it....you should!
This next week should be nice and busy too. Transformers...are coming. I plan to see it in Imax but it wont be until the crowds die down a little.

All praise Hulu for aiding me in my summer television commitments. The Daily Show and Colbert Report are must watch!

I finished reading my book, some time early last week. So now we are onto the next installment.
alright....thoughts wearing thin....should I be worried that I don't have much to say over these summer days?
maybe its more about doing and less about saying.
00000000000000i0000iii0i0000000000000000000iii00000000000000ii000000000000

ok. heres one of my favorites from the new new new playlist.

Summer of Thought

Man I've been putting this blog off today for so long. I just genuinely did not feel like blogging.

Today was kinda of a lazy summer day for me. I got up, ate, played starcraft, did a bunch of chores that took up the majority of my day, and relaxed by the pool. A lot of my chores today comprised of pool-related items. sweeping the pool, skimming the pool, vacuuming the pool, all that good stuff. Once I did all that I helped my parents roll out the new solar heating pool cover and throw it on the pool. Tomorrow I will have to cut the pool cover to size. The only good that came out of these chores was the knowledge that the pool will be ready to swim in in a couple of days. if only james had a pool video to do...

I have been hesitating to start up my Conquer game again. Once I want to dive into that big mess it really takes full brain capacity. I have to be in the Conquer mindset if I want to change game play the slightest bit. I have to process the potential repercussions of any change I wish to make. It takes a lot of brain power. it probably shouldn't, but the way I operate sometimes it does.

I have also been putting the Finance Association duties out of my mind recently. Which is probably a bad thing. Just more work for July ahead in that category.

I forgot to take a picture of the corn for an update. When I got back from Yosemite, the corn gave me a nice surprise. Good stuff. It just grows and grows!

This whole "obtaining a job" situation is a more daunting task than I previously imagined. Everywhere I go or even think about I get shot down. Nobody seems to be hiring. I must have missed the job rush. I thought if I followed up and stuff I was a shoe in for a lot of places. Boy was I wrong. Nobody wants anything to do with potential workers right now. My dad is starting to get on me too. I explained the situation to him, and he understands, but he keeps bringing it up that I do not have a job. It is getting kind of annoying.

I bought some ActivisionBlizzard stock finally. I am still kicking myself for not buying when I first was going to. I would have been a very wealthy man.

Well I pretty much gave you a pretty good low down of everything that I've got going on and have been thinking about. Same old, Same old really. I'm going to the beach tomorrow so that should release some summer stresses hopefully.

That is how it's done.

Too busy. It happens.

Goodbye so soon

Tomorrow is my 19th birthday. Yee-haw!

Now while some of you may be recovering from your Yosemite trips, I am about to set out again on another camping extravaganza. This time it's to Hearst Castle. It's kind of ironic that I'm going to be pitching a tent next to one of the world's most luxurious homes, but hey.

But this means another long car trip, which honestly. not so much. I need another mix CD.

Speaking of Hearst Castle..Yosemite pics!

The 101st Post

Well as you can see we are back from our Yosemite excursion. The trip was really fun, but it went by way to fast. The Half Dome hike really shortened it I think. As Blake would say, "Myyy Leeeegs Huuurt." I could have used one or two extra days. Other than that I really enjoyed myself. Coming home is mixed feelings. Now that I am out of school, entered summer, and completed my vacation, there is not much to look forward to. The next thing on my agenda is obtaining a job again. Then later on in the summer is a lot of Finance Association duties.

My dad does not want me to apply to Big 5 sporting goods in fear of me having to do heavy lifting. I really can not wait to live on my own.

I hate starting a new job and getting thrown right into it. I think that is the worst part. Not knowing anything and where everything is and having to work is frightful. Just got to get past that first couple weeks and into the comfort zone. Another thing that I hate is all these Gieko commercials. I find them to be very annoying now. They need to come up with some new advertisement strategies. No more wads of cash with eyeballs and upset suited cavemen.

Summer Summer Summer. Besides trying to work I want to try and have as much fun as possible. Go to the beach a lot. Do a lot of Frisbee. Have as many hangouts as possible. Gotta soak up the free time before going back to the school death routine again.

Not much for the blog tonight. I was going to do more, but I am tired now. I will leave you with the only group pics I got from our Yosemite adventure. 300 pics total, only 2 group pics.

This picture really shows how different all our hair styles are. We are a band of unique individuals.

I showed my family some of the Yosemite pics the other day. They said we all looked unhappy in a lot of pics. I guess our normal faces equate to unhappiness to people. At least Blake smiled good in these pics. We are a pretty cynical group I'd say. One day soon we will have to have a Yosemite viewing party and look at all the pictures/footage.

Auf Wiedersehen

Well we are off.
This is the 99th post.
Yosemite here we come.
The blog will be a tad empty for the next week.
Lonsert feel free to blog as much as you want.

Good night and farewell.

Saturday, June 6, 2009

I woke up at 1

And I accidentally just pressed enter which means this blog just got posted with a title and nothing else. Sorry.

But yes. 1. It's funny. During the week I'll wake up around 8:30 to 10ish, regardless of how late I go to sleep (which has been pretty late these past couple partying/starcrafting/bonfiring weeks.) But as soon as Saturday hits, I sleep like a toddler on NyQuil.

MAYA

is being learned.

Today I learned how to make a vase or any object that is made on a throwing wheel. It's actually really cool how it works; I learned about it in Calculus in high school, and it didn't make any sense, but now I kind of get it. Basically if you put in a shape like \_ it will revolve it 360 degrees and give you a solid object! Fascinating stuff.

Let's talk videogames for a second. Now everyone is aware Starcraft II hits the shelves sometime in the hopefully not too distant future, but with E3 recently coming to a close several new titles have been announced that deserve recognition. I've always been fond of the Splinter Cell series, although the past couple titles have been less glamourous than necessary to spark excitement. The latest addition ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2gp3upKEz0 ) changed everything for me. Well not everything. Most things have stayed the same, just with the amount of rebellious spy pumped up to the maximum. Awesome. Also worth mentioning is the Milo demo, although a tad bit creepy for all the wrong reasons.

The Offspring concert (Or shall I say The Alkaline Trio concert?) was good. Loud at first, better with earplugs. That's just the way things are for me though. It was really good to see the alkaline trio. I spent a good deal of time listening to them in high school, and there's always something spiritual about seeing something live that you've been so used to hearing via mp3. Although I did catch myself looking at the overhead screen a lot. Bad habit!

Prepare Yourself

I feel like I just blogged. The blog just really creeps up on me quickly these days. I do not have much to talk about in this post. My last post pretty much updated you all on everything.

The only things that are going through my mind right now are Yosemite planning and The Offspring concert in 2 hours. So close I can feel it...
Both Yosemite and the Offspring are very close. Just 2 more days for Yosemite and 2 hours for Offspring. I am going to be very tired tomorrow. and I have to go to my grandparents house at 11 tomorrow morning to celebrate my grandma's birthday. I bought her all this bath and body works lotions my sister picked out today. There was a big sale at that store and I got all this crap 75% off. A really good deal. Happy birthday Grandma.

I did a lot today. The past couple days has been Yosemite major. Preparing, planning, organizing, and shopping. I spent a good 4 hours getting the Yosemite gear out of the garage yesterday and had a triumphant battle with this huge black spider. Imagine a black widow shape but not a black widow. The marking were different. It was fast like a black widow though. Today I shopping for a good couple hours for food and stuff for the trip. Lots of good assorted snacks.

One thing I hate about summer is how the grass grows like a mutha. A big mutha! I have to mow it about once a week to keep my dad's anger at bay. For some reason the tree in my front yard is sick or something and has been dropping an extra amount of leaves per day. I have to rake the leaves before I mow the lawn... raking those leaves are a bitch! They get infused with the tall grass and do not succumb to the wrath of the rake. Story of my life. (not really, but it is fun to put this sentence after stuff. it really makes people think).

I am worried about getting home after the concert. If it is anything like weenie roast I am going to be in trouble. I do not want to miss the last couple of Offspring songs, but I know that parking lot is going to be unforgiving. It is going to suck getting out of there. I guess we will just have to hope it is not as bad as weenie roast.

Song of the day:

"Takes Me Nowhere"
- The Offspring

Awesome.

If I could only climb this

with this

I would be a happy man.

Yosemite: Get excited.

Sunday we need all need to post something before the trip. Or do a group post or something.

Tear Down the Wall

The days really seem to go by quickly in this summer Sun don't they. I know that was a question. But one of rhetorical purposes. There is no room here for arguments. Accept my quips and commentary as TRUTH! and SOLID FACT.
or just roll those eyes.
Another weekend is upon us..or in a few hours or so. The weekend starts on friday. Because I am starting to classify weekends by what movies come out. This weekend its The Hangover and Land Of the Lost. The Hangover looks funny but typical to those types of comedies. We will laugh hard and gasp in disgust. Also I might have a case of JustdontgetZachgalifianakis-itis. Possibly something to get checked out.
As for Land of the Lost....I haven't heard much good things about it. But if it does bad I will feel bad. Because Will Ferrel is trying..
I think. I want people to see it and for it to make money. But I don't want to see it. That will happen sometimes with movies.
and then there are just some that should never be IMO.

Oh man! This 1 week vacation is going to JAM UP my Hulu Queue
I have to admit. I jumped on the Conan Tonight Show bandwagon. Sometimes they are just too good to pass up. I'd call it a trial run.

I am all packed (almost) for the trip. Just got a few more things to get and then a few more to pack. Some stuff is just stuff I need up until I leave.
I do need pens though. A good amount of pens. Maybe a pencil or two
ALSO (and this is directed to the ArTISTICALLY minded reader/trip goer.)
I have this Idea for a flag. That we make from a white t-shirt. And I want to know/suggest if you could bring pens or something to illustrate this flag. Concept/design is still up in the air. Just a heads up!~

Videos:
Because this is awesome

Because he is awesome and sadly no longer with us as of today....

I just read a neat interview of Dave Eggers and his wife(who probably doesn't like being referenced that way) Vendela Vida
about their movie Away We Go and other stuff. Heres the link http://www.avclub.com/articles/dave-eggers-and-vendela-vida,28805/2/
and here are two of my favorite lines from it!

Dave Eggers:
Where The Wild Things Are started back in 2003. I had never written a screenplay or started a screenplay or read a screenplay, and I didn’t know anything. That just started with a phone call from Spike. I had no idea what I was doing.

VV: John Krasinski added some swearing.

Ok!

A blog in the nick of time

Today was one of my first unplanned days of summer. I woke up with no direction of what to do, and yet I got more done today than in the past while.

I spent a good deal of time diving into the world of Maya, the 3D animation/modeling/everything software that has so eluded me in the past. I've been working through this online course which has been extremely helpful. It's taught by a guy with a very soothing southern accent, which has in turn inspired of bit of southern pride on my part. I've been wearing my orange hunting beanie around all day. I suppose that's southern. Kind of. SO. The big thing I learned today was lighting, which it turns out I absolutely adore. Why? Well because it makes things look so, so much better. That's one of my big issues with 3D. It always looks awful until you render it. I'm a man of instant gratification, and I think lighting has just the thing to please my manly needs.

my, my. That is one decent looking set-up. So, a basic run-through of what I learned that is seen above: Cast shadows(!), transparency, point lights, incandescence, light decay, and glow. Along with some modeling I suppose. I feel pretty good about all of that.

Apparently Greenday has a new album out. When did that happen and who cares anymore? Although I'll say it's about time.

Also, I've been drawing/animating lately.

I'm really happy with the way the bottom-half turned out. I think I'm going to start drawing pictures that actually mean things now though. The time has come for me to expand.

Time for an Update

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday. It is his 50th birthday. Over the hill! Maybe that is the 40th birthday, I do not know. Anyways, happy birthday Dad.

Fullerton Update

First year of college gone! Wow that is crazy. It is hard to believe. These are supposed to be the greatest years of my life and they are going way too fast. It needs to slow down. Slow ride, take it easy! What do I have to say about my first year of college? I guess I would say it was good in the transitional sense. It got me used to the workings of the Fullerton so that is good. It also broke me into the world of the Finance Association and the realm of competitive ping pong. So I would say it was a good year. Academically is was the best year of my educational career. Getting straight A's this semester was just plain awesome. The stress paid off. If you can overcome the stress, you can overcome anything.

Corn Update

Yosemite Update

It is coming so close! And I am super excited! The meetings have taking place, some shopping has been done, and most of the planning has already been accomplished. I have this list with something to do everyday before the trip departure. Packing and planning is half the fun!...somewhat. It is also a lot of work. I usually get really stressed out and frustrated before the departure. Once I am in the park and smell the air though, then my stress dissipates like sand in the Merced river. As long as no major snags arise these next couple days, I would say everything is going to be pretty easy. Also fluorescent orange beanies are the best color choice of Yosemite unity.

Starcraft Update

I felt I needed to make a starcraft section in my blog to commemorate the gigantic increase in group starcraft gaming. What do you get when you combine two opposing forces (John and Blake vs. James Lonsert + 2 computers), one hour and six minutes, and lots of starcraft-imitation noises? You get one of the most intense, long, and triumphant battles ever played. I would love to go into major detail and give you the battle low-down stage by stage, but I am running short on time. Long story short, John and Blake won the battle in an amazing comeback fashion. Despite all odds the mighty Zerg emperor Lonsert fell. Rematch?

Lots of updates today. Offspring concert on friday.

Song of the Day:

Fight While You Can!

Hello June!
What is up my friends. What is up.
I have been busy with work most of this week. But it has been well worth it. Or shall I say, it will be well worth it when I get that paycheck! Not that it's only about money, but that is the biggest factor. Free movies is nice as well.
Speaking of movies I haven't seen for free......UP was great! Like hilarious plus emotional awesome. I hope to see it again to enjoy it even more. I think what really got to me was the whole concept of the "pushed aside life adventure." But then we realize life was the adventure! Pixar you got me again! Life lessons in your animated wonders.

I need to start working on a modified version of my summer playlist. A more "Other" friendly version. Also it will be in CD format. And definitely not 185 songs long. Im going to shoot for about 3 discs with 17/18 songs per. Giving me about 50 songs. So I have to pick fifty songs from my 185 to accompany me on the upcoming summer trip. Apparently these others have a criteria for my music as well; and I quote "No Indie-Hipster music!"
Like thats going to happen!

Alright I'm getting the feeling this is starting to wind down. BUT I have a possible solution to my lackluster posts. And that is the efficient use of my FLIP camera for the ever popular technique of VLOGGING! It will not be an all out extensive vlog or anything like that. More like supplemental footage to my posts. Who knows it might not work out. But why not give it a shot.
ALSO this is an open suggestion to all bloggers in the VT, do it as well. Just carry your camera around and take it out when ever you get the slightest urge!
Also I have a better plan for this summer trip coming up in regards to proper video documentation.
It's not going to be as extensive as I had originally hoped but it will certainly be a complete and viable video source of much remembrance. I hope!

Now it's time to hit the books. Actually just book. At this rate I will probably finish this current book sometime next week and start a new one right after. I am a little behind in reading what I had hoped to this summer but that is ok. WITW maybe have to wait until the new school year. Mr. McCarthy has the floor.

See you all later. Ok ok.

Sorry Casual Conversationists....
this is my favorite Supertramp song.
