Ok. Time for a blog from the johnster. It's funny, the day before my blogs i think of stuff to blog about and get excited for it, but then right before i sit down to blog I'm never in the mood. but i do it anyway. For YOU the people! alright lets start with my Fullerton update as usual:

Fullerton Update

This week is good because i don't have to go to sociology at all. We only have to do online discussions and that's it. Pretty sweet. Yesterday was my Finance Association's second guest speaker event. 3 new guest speakers who discussed the careers of financial planning and such. It totally shook my world of what to do in my finance career. I'm worried now. I always thought i would finish school and then go work for a finance company or something along those lines. These guest speakers were really down on working for companies. They really condoned going and starting up your own independent financial planning firm. So now i don't know what route to take with my finance career. but its ok. its too early to think about. I just hope i learn more about the finance career and the many roads one can take in the field in the later years of my schooling.

Stock Market Update

Today is a great day to discuss the market. Today the market surged all over. The Dow Jones Industrial average rose around 380 points or 4.5%. It's the best surge day the markets had all year (only two months though). This surge today was brought on by the quarterly earnings report the company Citigroup released today. Citigroup is a bank/financial company. I'm sure you all have heard how the financial companies have been doing (bad......so bad). But today Citigroup released news that for the past 2 months they have operated on a profit. So this news spread like wildfire and everyone started to invest in everything. Even though this is a great day for the market, don't be fooled. Don't take this as a trend. Even one great day does not constitute a upward spiral trend of prosperity to come. I still believe the market has not fully recovered. So be cautious in your investing. For those of you who don't know, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is an Index of 30 different stocks. Its just a way to see how the major stock companies are doing in one measurement. It doesn't always represent the entire market, but it does a pretty good job. If you are curious what stocks make up the Dow, here is a list. I'm sure many of you have heard of half these companies on this list:
