But now it is time to focus on finishing the semester and the year. Which is crazy to realize. 1 year of college....completed? Lets not worry about that right now.
I feel like I'm falling into a routine with my blog posts, topic wise. However I cannot escape it.
So with that lets talk about books, movies, and music!
1. Music: Being the indie/hipster that I am(and that Blake likes to beat with aluminum bats) I frequent Urban Outfitters website. More recently their blog. It's an interesting place with an expected feel. But why I am talking about this under the "Music" section is the fact that they have 3 playlists online of notable musicians fitting to the indie/offbeat style. AND THEY are free.
So here is the link -> http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/playlist/
they are titled LSTN# 1-3. So far I've got 2 and 3 and I'm enjoying them. On that page there are also videos of other songs/artists of the similar concept.
2. Movies
I am looking forward to this movie because of the fact that it is written by Dave Eggers and his wife Vendela Vida. As you hopefully know I am certainly a Dave Eggers fan so this trailer was quick to please me. Aside from all fandom, it does look like a good movie. So its good to see Dave Eggers in the world of movies (WTWTA coming soon as well!)
Books: you may have already guessed that I would be mentioning Dave Eggers again in this section and if so...good job. I can safely say that if I was stopped at gunpoint in a bookstore and a man(or robot wanting to be more like a man) held me up until I gave him 3 books to read, I would know exactly which three to tell him. 1. Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, 2. J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, and 3. Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
I cannot being to detail all three of these and do them justice in such limited space. So hopefully my friends you have read at least 1 of these books on the list. If you have not, or wish to read more or all of those books listed, Please do! You will not regret it. Regret will never enter your mind. And for those of you who may be reluctant please trust me. You will definitely experience something, and that something will be profound. Well it was for me at least.
ok. I always feel like I try to say too much in 1 post. I feel like I might be right. Oh well.
Hope you were entertained, educated, and engulfed.
i kinda feel like that book section was aimed at me a little bit lol.
ReplyDeletewell you should read them!
ReplyDeletewhen you have time of course. like a summer vacation....
I'm sure you'll get around to it eventually.

ReplyDeleteThere's no rush for the Road. Savor it for as long as you want! lol
ReplyDeleteJames- i think you would like a lot of that music on the U.O. blog, so if you're hesitant maybe give it a second look!
